Warmup 10- 09.26.2012
If the population of organisms increases past the ecosystems carying capacity they will start to die off and compete for living spaces and food. Carying capacity is how many organisms that an ecosystem can support and keep in balance. The organisms that are most adapted will survive while the others will move or die off. Darwin's finches made genetic adaptation over several decades in order to survive on the island they live on. For example the birds of the same species that would eat nuts and berries would have harder and longer beaks than others on a different island that would only eat worms.
