Warmup 3- 09.13.2012
The purpose of a squirel in an ecosystem with plants and animals is to spread seeds for trees. When the squirels hide nuts in the ground it begins to grow, creating a new tree. They are also primary consumers and are a big part of the energy pyramid. If a bunch of organisms had the same niche than the squirel would have less of a job to go and there would be a lot more trees. That would also make the squirel population decrease along with the other, because if there are more prey than the pretator. Also, the one that is better adapted to the environment will survive in that ecosystem.
